Teach for Gaza Summer School!

Code.X Gaza Summer School is returning in 2025 for 11th and 12th grade students in Gaza, open to Code.X’s Gaza alumni and a broader student community in Gaza. The summer school is designed in an experimental format across Zoom, Youtube, and WhatsApp to accommodate evacuated students and students still in Gaza.

Code.X hosts learning programs in fragile and conflict-affected regions around the globe, empowering young students to become changemakers in their communities.
About the Role
Code.X volunteer instructors are undergraduates, graduate students, and recent alumni. As an instructor, you’ll bring out the potential in our students and serve as both teachers and role models. Instructors are critical in creating a supportive and long-lasting community between the teaching team, students, and program staff. Through the summer and beyond, instructors will have the opportunity to build deeply meaningful connections with students and play an active role in ensuring the next generation of Gazan youth can continue their education in the face of regional conflict.
Positions
SAT English (1–2 instructors): Teach strategies for Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, and Grammar. Offer guided practice and support students in mastering the SAT English section.
SAT Math (1–2 instructors): Cover Algebra, Geometry, Data Analysis, and more. Help students build confidence with real SAT math practice and personalized strategies.
University Applications & Essay Writing (1–2 instructors): Guide students through university applications, major exploration, and essay writing. Support them in producing strong personal statements. Mentorship provided by Code.X and the Gazan Student Support Network.
React Native Capstone using Human-Centered Design (1 CS instructor, 1 Design instructor): Teach React Native programming alongside human-centered design. By the end of the program, students will launch a personal project they can feature in applications. A comprehensive curriculum is provided by Code.X for personalization.

A genuine passion for working with students in Gaza.

Initiative and leadership in preparing classroom materials
Dedication to building long-term mentor-mentee relationships with students.
Specific expertise & experience related to the course you're interested to teach
Availability to commit fully to your selected session (4 or 8 weeks).
Nice-to-haves
Previous teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience
Previous experience working with youth (ages 14-18)
Role Details
Pre-Program (May–June 2025)
Review class goals and develop the syllabus and teaching materials alongside co-instructors
Communicate proactively with the Code.X team
Onboard with resources and context for working with students in Gaza
Virtual Teaching (July–August 2025
Teach 2–3 synchronous Zoom classes per week (1 hour each).
Offer feedback and differentiated instruction to support diverse learning needs.
Support students via WhatsApp and asynchronous tools (uploading materials, voice notes, etc.).
Participate in community-building activities and create a collaborative classroom space where students can grow personally and intellectually
